ScreenWay - EA Sports WRC

Set up ScreenWay motion compensation in EA Sports WRC using a vJoy virtual joystick.

1 Introduction

At this moment EA Sports WRC does not offer any camera API except a simple joystick axes mapping. The mapping allows to rotate the camera horizontally (yaw) and vertically (pitch or heave) with usage of joystick inputs - real or virtual. For this method to work correctly, a 3rd party application (called vJoy) is required that will create a virtual joystick in your system and this tutorial shows how to use it together to have at least some basic motion compensation in the game.

2 vJoy installation and configuration

1. Download vJoy 2.1.9.1

2. Start the installation and select all optional components

3. Once the installation is finished, start Monitor vJoy to confirm that at least one virtual joystick has been created

4. If there is no virtual joystick, then use Configure vJoy to create one

3 ScreenWay configuration

1. Go to Tools and DiagnosticMotion Compensation (VR/ScreenWay)

2. Switch to System Integration tab

3. Check Enable the motion compensation subsystem for stationary displays (ScreenWay)

4. Scroll down to Integration Methods (ScreenWay)

5. Enable Method #4 and select first available virtual joystick (e.g. vJoy Device 1) from the list

6. Click OK

4 The game configuration - without smartphone

1. Start the game in windowed mode

2. When prompted about unknown device, click CALIBRATE NOW

4. Go to CONTROLS and select vJoy Device

6. Switch to ForceSeatPM, go to Tools and Diagnostic and open ScreenWay Overwrite

7. Click arrow to simulate desired motion (e.g. yaw)

8. The countdown will begin. You can skip it by selecting Skip the countdown

9. Switch to game and click on BIND next to Head Camera Right

10. Once ACTIVATED is displayed in ScreenWay Overwrite, the game should recognize the input and bind it

11. Repeat the procedure for other inputs

12. Once you finish with axes binding, set Deadzone for each input to 0

5 The game configuration - with smartphone

1. Start the game normally

2. When prompted about unknown device, click CALIBRATE NOW

4. Go to CONTROLS and select vJoy Device

6. Open Web Interface from your smartphone, navigate to ScreenWay and enable Overwrite

7. In the game click on Bind next to Head Camera Right

8. On your smartphone click a button to simulate desired motion (e.g. yaw right). The game should recognize the input and bind it

9. Repeat the procedure for other inputs

10. Once you finish with axes binding, set Deadzone for each input to 0

6 Fine tuning

Start the race, switch to cockpit camera and use profile's Quick-Tunes to fine tune the compensation.

Tip
If you want to reverse the direction, instead of changing the binding in the game - set a Quick-Tune to negative compensation value.

You can also map ScreenWay Quick-Tunes to buttons in Stream Deck or in Button Box to adjust settings on the fly.

1. Click on profile to open details and navigate to Quick-Tune of your choice
