Gran Turismo 7

Connect Gran Turismo 7 on PlayStation to a PC-controlled motion platform over local network.

1 Introduction

Motion platform only works with PC using ForceSeatPM but it cannot be controlled directly from a video game console. Gran Turismo 7 is a game that only works on a Playstation console. User needs both a Playstation console and a PC for the motion platform to respond to vehicle behavior in the game: the video game console runs the game and the PC processes telemetry data and controls the motion platform. They must be connected both to the same home network, preferably using LAN cables. Technically, wireless connection will work, but if the network latency is too high, the platform's operation may feel "disconnected" from the vehicle's in-game behavior.

Information
You might use a notebook or a laptop to process the telemetry. It only has to meet the system requirements of ForceSeatPM: Microsoft Windows 10 x64 Home/Pro or Microsoft Windows 11 x64 Home/Pro; CPU must support AVX instruction set, at least 1 GB of free RAM, at leas 500 MB free space on operating system partition, USB port 2.0 (or faster) or Ethernet port (PS-series device only.

2 Configuration

1. Check the IP address of your video game console. Go to Gran Turismo 7 profile and click Configure.

2. Enter the IP address and click OK.

Information
If you are running only ForceSeatPM with no additional software for telemetry (beside SimHub), there is no need to enter or change any other settings. It already is programmed to run on default settings. After entering the IP address and clicking OK the connection will be established.

3. Click Save and Close to close Profile Editor.

4. Start the game.

Information
Make sure that Windows Firewall (or 3rd party firewall) does not block incoming UDP data on port 33742 (or any port you are using).

3 Using ForceSeatPM to forward telemetry data

SimHub software and ForceSeatPM are able to run along side with no issues by default. However, if you want to run additional software that requires telemetry input - it is recommended to use ForceSeatPM as a forwarder. Gran Turismo 7 supports various telemetry formats - ForceSeatPM is able to forward and convert data from the game to 3rd party applications.
Information
It is always the best solution to send the data from the game to motion platform manager first, to avoid lags in motion platform operation. Small lags in dashboard displays are usually not even visible.

1. Go to ForceSeatPM -> open Gran Turismo 7 profile -> click Configure.

2. In the configuration window select UDP/Proxy Forwarder -> click Add.

3. Enter a different UDP port than the game uses, e.g. 33743. Select a specific protocol version (A, B or C) to match a 3rd party application protocol requirements. Click OK -> OK -> Save & Close.

Information
IP address input field by default specifies the address of the PC. If you wish to forward data to a different device - enter that device's IP address.

4. Configure the 3rd party application to receive data specificaly from the address and port that you just forwarded.

Warning
For the UDP forwarder to work correctly, the ForceSeatPM must be launched and a profile for Gran Turismo 7 must be Activated.

4 Tuning the motion platform

ForceSeatPM works with GT7 exactly the same way as with other titles. You are able to tune the profiles on the go, share them with the community and use all other ForceSeatPM functionalities.

However, if you share the single TV with your video game console and can only run the game on the screen, use Web Interface built-in in ForceSeatPM and fine tune the motion platform operation from your smartphone or tablet.

1. Go to ForceSeatPM -> Tools and Diagnostics -> Software Configuration and verify that Web Interface is enabled.

2. Make sure that your smartphone/tablet is connected to the same network as your PC.

3. Scan QR code on your smartphone/tablet and open the URL. Alternatively type the URL in web browser. If there is more than one address displayed, use the one that belongs to your home network.

4. Once the web interface is loaded into the browser on your smartphone/tablet, use sliders to adjust motion platform operation to your needs. Changes apply instantly.
